Bookies set for £180m payout if Dettori completes perfect day at Royal Ascot

Frankie Dettori is on the brink of history.

British bookmakers are set for a monster £180m payout if Frankie Dettori can complete the perfect day at Royal Ascot.

The jockey is on two favourites in the last two races as bookies take cover, with Stradivarius romping home to land the four-timer.

Then, the man-of-the-moment's mount is Turgenev (short as 2/1) which has been cut from 12/1 in the last hour.

If second-favourite Questionaire wins the last (now short as 6/4), trading floors will be in meltdown, paying out close to £200m.

Oddschecker spokesperson, Callum Wilson: 'Frankie Dettori is showing why he is one of the most revered flat jockeys in history as he looks to go through the card at Royal Ascot in a feat that would write him into folklore.

'His popularity means recreational punters will have chanced their arms on the man on fire, and bookies are taking evasive action on his last two rides of the day.'
