Monday's Horse Racing Market Movers

We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.

The first mover of the day is SONJA HENIE who runs in the 18:20 at Wolverhampton. She was 16/1 earlier in the betting. However, she is now a best price of 17/2 and as short as 7/1. She has not really progressed since a decent novice victory last year at Kempton. Her second last time out has been the best of her 4 starts this season which is encouraging. However, what is particularly interesting is she has moved yards and is now in the hands of David Loughnane and with the money pouring in for this three-year-old, they could have got her working better than ever. She remains at 7f today and the movement in the market for her is intriguing.

Secondly, in the 19:40 at Ballinrobe GOOD LUCK HOPE has shortened from 2/1 into 13/10 best price and as short as 11/10. He is being seen for the first time this season after two encouraging runs last year. On his debut he finished a good 7th, having being heavily unfancied beforehand. Next time out, he finished third in a 22 runner maiden at Naas. The winner that day, Rhinestone, went on to be rated 144 by the time of the Cheltenham festival. On that form alone, Good Luck Hope must be better than his rivals today. The market definitely thinks so and is another one to keep an eye on today.

Lastly, TUATHA DE DANNAN running in the 20:40 at Ballinrobe has shortened from 9/4 into a best price of 11/8 and as short as 1/1 in places. This is a very interesting movement considering he is an unraced four-year-old. He is also from a sire who has just produced his first crop of National Hunt horses. Imperial Monarch, his sire, is out of a mare who reigns from a smart family – the progeny suggests this horse should be of a decent level. Trainer Joseph O’Brien will be hoping he can get off to winning ways and with strong support for Tuatha De Dannan, there may just be a few whispers that connections are expecting a good first run. One to definitely keep a tab on.
