II Paradiso is now as short as 8/1 for the St Leger after Lonsdale Cup run!
II Paradiso has been the subject of a swell of bets for the St Leger since his very promising run in the Lonsdale Cup at the Ebor Festival last week. He was 33/1 before the race, with bookies quickly cutting him to 8/1 after his third place finish.
Rated a 20/1 chance for that race, the Aidan O’Brien trained three-year-old seemed to be running Stradivarius close before not quite finding enough. There is no shame in losing to the superstar stayer and punters believe they have seen a St Leger winner in waiting in II Paradiso.
The Lonsdale Cup is by far the best form of any horse currently in the betting for the race, running the two times Stayers’ Cup Million winner and last year’s Derby runner up as close as he did is very impressive. He is still unexposed at the St Leger trip and punters are chomping at the bit at the thought of him over the 1m 6f and 115 yards.
33/1 before the Lonsdale Cup, as soon as he crossed the line punters were racing to get their money down on this son of Galileo. Bookies were quick to slash the odds as soon as they caught whiff of the money pouring in. He is now as short as 8/1 in the betting, the bookmakers are taking no chances even though it has not yet been confirmed if he will run at Doncaster on the 14th of September.
Punters will be keeping a close eye on what Aidan O’Brien decides to do with this talented horse. Their fingers will be crossed he lines up for the St Leger and he should run a mighty race for those punters who got on at the massive 33/1 on offer after the Lonsdale Cup.
