We reveal the most backed horses on the final day of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster.
Logician – 11/10 – 15:35 Doncaster (William Hill St Leger Stakes)
Unbeaten after four starts in his first season on the track, LOGICIAN is fancied to add a Group 1 to his already sparkling record. The son of Frankel won the Group 2 Great Voltigeur at York last time out with relative ease. Today’s extra distance isn’t expected to be a problem and punters seem convinced that this will be another success for the supreme combination of Frankie Dettori and John Gosden.
A Momentofmadness – 17/2 – 13:50 Doncaster (William Hill Portland Handicap)
A MOMENTOFMADNESS faces stiff opposition in the opening race of the day at the St Leger Festival. Despite being without a win since landing this very race last year, punters think that entering this 4lb lower than 12 months ago will make all the difference. The six-year-old has struggled for form ever since that victory, but showed a lot more promise when sixth in a crowded finish at the Ebor Festival last month.
Threat – 6/4 – 15:00 Doncaster (Pommery Champagne Stakes)
Stepping up in trip for the first time today, THREAT looks to build on last month’s success in the Gimrack. Richard Hannon’s colt stayed on strongly in that race, justifying favouritism under Oisin Murphy. He carries a 3lb penalty today as a result and will have to deal with an extra furlong. However, punters think the two-year-old could relish the challenge.
