We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first of the market movers is LORD SCHNAPPS who is running in the 15:30 at Sligo. He was as big as 6/1 earlier in the betting but is now a best price of 2/1 and as short as 13/8 in places. This six-year-old was not at his best last time out at Limerick but has had two months off since then. Some strong chasing efforts earlier in the season suggest he is more than capable to win this sort of race. The money coming in for him could be due to the brilliant from the yard find themselves in. They are operating at a 33% strike rate and punters will be hoping they can further increase that this afternoon.
Secondly, there is KATALYSTIC who runs in the 16:20 at Perth. He has shortened from 7/1 into a best price of 23/10, with some bookies going as short as 15/8. He ran a solid race here last time out, giving the impression of a well handicapped horse. That race was run over three miles and the drop in trip today should help him given he did his best work in the earlier stages of the race last time out before fading near the end. He clearly enjoys the track and punters will hope with conditions in his favour today, he can go one better than last time out.
Lastly, we have AUTUMN TRAIL in the 17:00 at Kempton. Subject of a massive move overnight, as big as 20/1 with some bookies, she is now a best price of 11/2 and as short as 4/1. This is an intriguing gamble for this two-year-old. A respectable third on debut at Leicester in July, punters must have seen something that day that has caused so much money to come in for her. She could have come on a lot for that run and the yard must think she is working very well at home. Her sire Sixties Icon was a Group horse and her pedigree suggests she will prefer the harder ground today. Indeed, she raced on heavy last time out which will not have seen her to best effect. A young horse shortening this much is always very eye-catching and it will be fascinating to see how this one pans out this afternoon.
