We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is SOVIET PIMPERNEL who runs in the 14:05 at Gowran Park. He was 15/8 earlier in the piece but it now a best price of 11/10 and as short as 10/11. This exciting four-year-old finds himself over hurdles for the first time in his career after am impressive victory at Listowel last month. He travelled very well that day and showed a good turn of foot with two furlongs to go. He was very easy on the eye and punters have latched onto that and supported him very well in the betting. He should follow that up with a victory here today and is a very exciting hurdling prospect for the Peter Fahey yard.
Secondly, BENARTY HILL is running in the 16:35 at Hexham. The nine-year-old was 8/1 overnight but has shortened into a best price of 9/2 with some bookies going as short as 10/3. An interesting move for this older horse after a poor return to hurdling last month at the same track. Before that he ran a decent enough race after a year break for his new yard. He could have needed both those runs to improve his fitness and should be in much better shape today. It certainly is an interesting move as he does not jump off the page when you first look at the race. Definitely one to keep a close eye on this afternoon.
Lastly, KILIG is running in the 18:30 at Southwell. He was 17/2 earlier in the betting but has moved into 11/2 best price and as short as 4/1 in places. Tim Easterby’s two year-old is yet to get off the mark in six starts so far in his short career. The money coming in for him today suggest punters think today will be the day. As an unfancied 50/1 shot he ran a very good second two starts ago where he led the whole way until reeled in near the line. He followed that up with a decent fourth place finish last time out. He is on the all-weather for the second time in his career which should help him. It will be interesting to see how he goes given the strong support for him.
