We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is FRIENZE ROSA who is running in the 13:25 at Brighton. She was as big as 7/2 but has been punted into a best price of 7/4 and as short as 11/8.This four-year-old has had a long campaign but has done her best work at the backend of the season. She won here last week under Aled Beech and they link up again under similar ground conditions. She went up 5lb for that effort but showed she is still competitive with a second place at Bath yesterday. Connections have decided to strike while the iron is hot and go again today hoping to make it two wins in as many weeks at the East Sussex course.
Next up, is BARDO CONTIGUO who runs in the 14:30 at Brighton. He was 2/1 before shortening into a best price of 11/8, with some bookies going as short as 6/5. Roger Varian’s three year old won well last time at Ayr having been gelded beforehand. It clearly did the trick and under a strong ride from David Egan he landed the spoils late on. He has gone up 3lb for that effort but that is very fair and punters think this mark is still lenient. The brilliant Andrea Atzeni takes the ride and will be sure to get the best out of the son of Lope De Vega. His progeny suggests he will handle the soft ground and the money coming in for him suggests many think he should land this with ease.
Lastly, LOVE THE LEADER who is running in the 17:25 at Wincanton. He was 8/1 overnight but is now a best price of 5/1 with some bookies going as short as 4/1 on him. The veteran eleven-year-old has been slightly struggling as of late but punters think today is the day he gets his nose in front again for the first time in almost a year. That victory came 4lb more than his current mark and having previously been rated 107 earlier this year, a mark of 90 must be workable. He shaped last time out at Worcester like he still possessed some decent ability and people must have taken encouragement from that. It would be great to see the old boy win another race for Johhny Farrelly and given that he has halved in price, he may just do that.
