We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is WESTERN VICTORY who is running in the 13:45 at Down Royal. She was 8/1 earlier in the betting but has shortened into 4/1 and is as short as 7/2 with some bookies. The six-year-old mare started off very well for her new yard when landing two victories in a row. Her most recent run, however, was below par but punters are willing to forgive her for that effort. She runs off the same mark today but if you put a line through that effort last time out then she has every chance of going very close today. Punters fancy her to do so with plenty of money coming in for the mare.
Secondly, OVERAWED is running in the 15:50 at Uttoxeter. She was as big as 9/1 in places but is now a best price of 7/2 and is 3/1 in some places. This is a big move for the mare who is making her seasonal reappearance after a decent campaign last year where she regularly placed. Punters believe the break will have done her good and she can improve on last season’s efforts with a victory today. Her jumping sometimes let her down last year and if she improved on that over the summer than she could make a bold bid this afternoon.
Lastly, SHAN BLUE is running in the 16:10 at Wetherby. He was 9/4 before moving into a best price of 11/8 with some bookies going as short as 1/1. Dan Skelton’s gelding is making his debut over hurdles today and punters think this will be an easy task for the five-year-old judging by the money coming in for him. A strong point to point winner last year, he then went on to finish third in a pretty hot bumper at Warwick in which the winner is very well thought of. If he has progressed in his time away from the track he should have the ability to land this and go on to have a successful season. The move for him is a promising sign and punters are expecting big things.
