We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is CLONDAW RIGGER who is running in the 14:05 at Chepstow. As big as 11/2 earlier in the day, he is now a best price of 7/2 and as short as 3/1 with some bookmakers. He struggled at Cheltenham 12 days ago but punters fancy him to come on a lot for what was his first run in 11 months. Before that he won twice in a row, including over this course and distance. He underwent wind surgery during his time off the track and second time out that could begin to show its effect. Providing his run last time out was to blow off the cobwebs, if he is back to his best he should go very close this afternoon.
Secondly, SQUOUATEUR is running in the 14:20 at Musselburgh. He was 8/1 before moving into a best price of 5/1 with some places rating him a 4/1 shot. Ben Haslam’s eight-year-old has been falling rapidly down the weights and is running off 112 today. He hasn’t won since February 2016 but the money coming in for him means some think today may be the day he finally gets his nose back in front. He has reverted back to hurdling in the last two months after an unsuccessful spell chasing. He was making decent headway last time out before making a mistake at the penultimate hurdle. If he can iron out any mistakes like that then there is every chance he could land the spoils this afternoon.
The final mover of the day is ATTYS EDGE who is running in the 15:35 at Nottingham. He was as big as 9/1 earlier in the betting before shortening into a best price of 11/2 and as short as 9/2 in places. This three-year-old won at Chepstow in September and has recorded two reasonable enough efforts since. He should have no issue with the ground conditions today and punters like the look of Christopher Mason’s horse. He will need to be at his best and with all the money coming in for him it suggest he very well could be.
