We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is FURZIG in the 15:20 at Wolverhampton. As big as 11/1 earlier in the betting, he has moved into a best price of 6/1 with some bookmakers making him a 5/1 shot. Richard Fahey’s four-year-old is back on the all-weather after two average efforts at York previously. However, before that, he won very impressively at Newcastle and punters fancy him to put in a similar display today. He is at his best on the all-weather surface and if running to the level he did at Newcastle then he should go close today.
Secondly, HIGH UP IN THE AIR is running in the 15:30 at Plumpton. He opened up as big as 14/1 with some bookmakers yesterday but has shortened dramatically into a best price of 11/4 and is as short as 2/1 in places. This is a huge move for the Gary Moore’s horse who has only had four career starts but his seasonal reappearance offered encouragement and punters fancy him to come on plenty for that effort. Gary Moore has decided to step him up in trip and given the way he shaped last time out, he should be helped by the extra distance. It is a massive gamble for the five-year-old and will be intriguing to see if he can back it up with a big run.
Lastly, PEARL SPECTRE is running in the 16:15 at Southwell. As big as 12/1 in places he has been punted into a best price of 7/1 with some bookies going as short as 11/2. This eight-year-old ran a very promising third at Lingfield on Saturday and connections have decided to go again straight away whilst he is in good form. He led at the weekend before being caught in the final furlong and only managing to keep up one pace to finish in third. He runs off 54 and given he won at this track last year off 70 then a return to that sort of form makes him very well handicapped. Plenty of encouragement can be taken from his last run and the move for him suggests many think he has the ability to land the spoils this afternoon.
