Tuesday's Horse Racing Market Movers

We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.

The first market mover of the day is BATTLE OF THE MIDWAY who is running in the 13:35 at Fairyhouse. As big as 7/2 in places earlier in the piece he has moved into a best price of 6/4, with some bookmakers going as short as 1/1. Noel Meade’s five-year-old won at Galway last month in impressive fashion before coming second at Cork. He found one too good that day in the form of Zola who looks a promising type for Willie Mullins. Battle of the Midway is back down in trip this afternoon which looks like it should benefit him after not quite getting the three miles last time out. Punters fancy him to build on his strong start to the season today in a race that looks there for the taking.

Secondly, THEO’S CHARM is running in the 14:30 at Lingfield. He was 4/1 but has shortened into a best price of 5/2 and is as short as 15/8 with some bookies. This nine-year-old has plenty of ability and should have won more times than he has in his career. His seasonal reappearance at Plumpton earlier this month was a really strong run behind Dan McGrue and Acey Milan. He should come on plenty for that too and given this is his second run since wind surgery over the summer, improvement can be expected. There is plenty of money coming in for Nick Gifford’s horse and with the stable being in fine form recently combined with Leighton Aspell operating at a good strike-rate, a big run is on the cards.

Lastly, is GINGER FOX who is running in the 16:25 at Kempton. He was 25/1 earlier in the betting but has been hammered into a best price of 11/1 and is as short as 7/1 in places. This is his first run for David Loughnane having previously been with Ian Williams. Whilst he hasn’t won yet this year he has had five second place finishes and is rather consistent. It is only his fourth run on the all-weather. His effort last time out at Kempton showed signs of encouragement too. He was slowly away but managed to make up ground late on which suggests a better effort than his ninth position would imply. It is very interesting all the money coming in for him on his first run for a new yard and is well worth keeping a close eye on.
