We take a closer look at the horses moving in the markets across the UK and Ireland today.
The first market mover of the day is MATTIES MOUNTAIN who has been the subject of a big move in the 12:50 at Clonmel. As big as 25/1 last night, he is now a 7/1 shot, with a best price of 8/1 available. The five-year-old is making his handicap debut and the money has been pouring in for him. His maiden efforts this season have been nothing to write home about and he will need to find some improvement from them. A mark of 90 doesn’t look very lenient but there are plenty who think he can defy it. It is an intriguing move and he is well worth keeping an eye on this afternoon to see if he can back up all the money that has come in for him.
Secondly, PICKAMIX is running in the 14:40 at Catterick. He has been gambled in from 12/1 and is now as short as 11/2, with a standout price of 13/2 still available with one bookmaker. Having been off the track for 385 days, he ran a decent race for a long way at Cheltenham last month before tiring and being pulled up with two fences to jump. That run was really impressive for a horse coming off such a long layoff and trusting that he will be in better shape today then he should go very close. The money for the nine-year-old suggests plenty think he has a very good chance and it will be interesting to see if he can push on from his strong reappearance effort.
Lastly, HADDAF has received plenty of money in the 16:00 at Chelmsford. 11/4 earlier in the betting, he is now as short as 5/4 and a best price of 13/8. He hasn’t won since June 2018 but he has been running well as of late and it is interesting that he is being stepped up to a mile for the first time in his career. Once rated 101, he arrives here running off just 74 and whilst he has not won in a while, he has proven consistent at this level and punters think he can land this prize off his current mark.
