It looks like it's going to go ahead...
Racing has been given the go-ahead to proceed from June 1st, but who is the favourite for the Derby?
Punters flocked to the ante-post racing markets following the BHA’s announcement that the Epsom Derby will indeed be held in Epsom.
Irish-bred Grade 1 serial winner Pinatubo continues to lead the market, currently propping it up at as short as 11/2. The best price of 7/1 is available with one firm.
The Charlie Appleby three-year-old has been the punters’ pick for a matter of months now and is still growing popular in the market.
Over the last week, 22% of all bets on the race have backed the Godolphin hope.
There’s a sea of blue on the Oddschecker grids in the following spots, with AP O’Brien trained Mogul the 12/1 joint second favourite alongside Military March (12/1).
Kemeko follows next at 14/1 alongside Waldkonig at the same price, then comes Palace Pier (25/1) and Innisfree (25/1).
Brentford Hope is 33/1, followed by Tuscan Gaze (33/1), Highest Ground (33/1) and Enemy (33/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The news that everyone was waiting for dropped yesterday, with the BHA committing to a June return.
“What’s even more encouraging, particularly for the purists, is that the Derby will indeed be kept in Epsom.
“Six wins out of six has seen the three-year-old catapulted into racing royalty – and punters certainly think he’s worth his price for the Derby.”
