First Flow slashed for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham following brilliant Clarence House victory.
First Flow cut into as short as 8/1 for Champion Chase
50/1 for the Champion Chase earlier today, First Flow’s odds have been slashed into as short as 8/1 following his sensational display in the Clarence House Chase.
Two bookmakers are still offering 14/1 on Kim Bailey’s nine-year-old.
The gelding took on Politologue on for the lead and didn’t see another rival once he went past the grey.
It was Kim Bailey’s first Grade 1 winner in just under 26 years.
He jumped brilliantly under a classic David Bass ride to win in fine style. That made it six victories in a row for First Flow who has gone from strength to strength this season.
Chacun Pour Soi now strong favourite
Chacun Pour Soi was also shortened into even money with some bookmakers after a disappointing run from Politologue.
A standout price of 6/4 is available with one firm on the favourite.
Whilst First Flow was impressive, Chacun Pour Soi could be a different kettle of fish to what he has faced before and might find him too good.
Willie Mullins’ nine-year-old has won both his starts since missing last year’s Champion Chase. Yet to put a foot wrong this season, he now looks set to go into the race as a strong favourite.
Politologue drifts out to 9/1 after finishing second
Meanwhile, after only managing second, Politologue has drifted out to to as big as 9/1 from 6/1. Sent off favourite for the Clarence House, last year’s Champion Chase winner could not match First Flow and may struggle to regain his crown in March.
Altior was shortened has been shortened by three firms, but is still available to back at 9/1.
