Grand National 2023: Noble Yeats leads early most backed list

This year's winner Noble Yeats is the early frontrunner in the list of most backed horses through oddschecker for the Grand National 2023.

The 50/1 winner on Saturday has been cut into a best price 20/1 for next year's race - making him joint favourite with 2022 runner-up Any Second Now (third in 2021).

Since the thrilling conclusion to the Aintree showpiece, Noble Yeats has been backed in 15.91% of the betslips through oddschecker for the Grand National 2023, with both Any Second Now and third placed Delta Work (33/1) taking 12.12%.

Noble Yeats will, of course, have a different jockey on board should he defend his title in 2023 after amateur rider Sam Waley-Cohen called time on his career aged 39. In winning the race, Noble Yeats became the first seven-year-old to win the Grand National for 82 years.

His victory, a surprise winner for so many, rated less so for Stu Williams, who highlighted him as an “intriguing contender” in this pre-race prediction article.

He wrote: “Robert (owner) and Sam Waley-Cohen have a fine record over these spruce fences and their recent purchase Noble Yeats rates an intriguing contender.

"The Irish trained seven-year-old defeated subsequent Arkle runner-up Gabynako on his chasing debut and chased home Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase runner-up Ahoy Senor in Grade 2 company at Warwick in February.

“He was far from disgraced in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham and has likely been trained with this race in mind. He could show up well if his inexperience doesn’t hamper him.”

The only other horse to take more than a 5% of the share of the bets since Saturday is fifth place finisher Fiddlerontheroof (9.09%). The 12/1 shot for this year has a favourable looking best price of 33/1 through oddschecker for the Grand National 2023.
