Andy Holding can’t see anything but an Inspiral win in the Falmouth Stakes but predicts a much more competitive affair in Saturday’s July Cup.
Newmarket takes centre stage this week with the action at the July meeting always of the very highest quality and one of the main features will be the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes on Friday.

Unfortunately, the presence of Inspiral (best price 2/5) is likely to make the mile fillies' contest a poor betting heat, but at least racegoers will get a chance to see a top-class performer strut her stuff for the sixth time.
Arguably the most impressive winner of Royal Ascot, her Coronation Stakes victory also produced a very fast time figure and with her main danger Homeless Songs defecting in favour of staying at home in search of better ground, the daughter of Frankel doesn't appear to have too much standing in her way (Tenebrism second favourite at 8/1).

The July Cup on Saturday, meanwhile, looks a much more competitive affair at this stage and it brings together the form of both the Commonwealth Cup and Platinum Jubilee from Royal Ascot.
Perfect Power, winner of the main three-year-old event of the week at the Berkshire venue, flies the flag for the former contest and given the way he won from an unpromising position 22 days ago he probably deserves to be heading the betting at present (9/4).
An out-and-out six-furlong specialist, the stiff nature of the July course should suit Richard Fahey's colt down to the ground and he looks sure to make a bold bid.

Of the latter-named pair, the Aussie raider was finishing strongest of all and had he received a smoother passage in the final two furlongs, there's a strong case to be made for him actually coming out on top 21 days ago.
Obviously, the weather during the week and the draw on the day itself will prove significant factors, but it looks to be a great race in prospect and a fitting end to what should be an informative three days of racing at one of the most picturesque courses in the world.
