Racing Weekly host Rishi Persad predicts an exhibition for big favourite Trueshan in Friday's Doncaster Cup at the St Leger Festival 2022.
The penultimate day of the St Leger Festival features the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, the final leg of the Stayers' Triple Crown after the Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup.
Stradivarius, 3rd in the Ascot Gold Cup and 2nd in the Goodwood Cup, has not been entered in the Doncaster Cup (a race he won in both 2019 and 2021) - with plans for his future still up in the air.
The John and Thady Gosden-trained eight-year-old missed his intended run in last month’s Lonsdale Cup at York due to a bruised foot.

Instead, the commanding position in the betting market is held by Trueshan (8/15), who looks like getting the ground he favours having been withdrawn due to unsuitably quick ground from several races this summer including twice at Ascot and for the Lonsdale Cup.
Persad previewed the race together with Johnny Ward and Sam Turner on the latest episode of Racing Weekly (see video below), with all three in favour of the favourite even at the short price.
Having described Trueshan as a “very fair poke at 4/7” (he has shortened slightly since recording), Turner did acknowledge Coltrane (second favourite at best price 5/1) has run to a good level this season (wins at both Ascot and Sandown), while Get Shirty (11/2) copes well with the expected cut in the ground but was disappointing at York (5th in the Ebor Handicap).
Ward, meanwhile, said Irish raider and fourth favourite Search For A Song (best price 15/2) has been a little bit disappointing this season, adding “Trueshan just wins this”.
