St Leger Festival Going Update
At the time of writing (Tuesday 12th September) we do not yet have a concrete Going Update at Doncaster Racecourse. There is still plenty that can happen in the forecast before Thursday’s first race.
The latest on AttheRaces suggests the advance going is Good-to-Soft, Soft in Places.
St Leger Racing Tips
The two biggest races at the St Leger Festival are the Doncaster Cup and of course the St Leger Stakes.
In the Doncaster Cup, Coltrane is going to be difficult to beat, as Aiden O’Brien looks for his 11/8 favourite to secure a victory.
On Saturday, the St Leger Stakes is slightly more open, but Gregory leads the betting market at 3/1.
Check out our oddschecker Horse Racing tips for more analysis on these races, and to see whether these two favourites can be beat.
Doncaster Cup Odds (Friday 15th September)
Here are the latest odds for the Doncaster Cup on Day 2 of the St Leger Festival.
| Name | Best Odds | Worst Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Coltrane | 13/8 | 7/5 |
| Sweet William | 7/2 | 3/1 |
| Trueshan | 2/1 | 15/8 |
| Broome | 11/1 | 10/1 |
| The Grand Visir | 40/1 | 33/1 |
This currently looks like Coltrane’s race to lose, although the 13/8 odds from William Hill is slightly bigger than what is available elsewhere.
Coltrane has been the most popular bet so far, and at 13/8 his implied probability of winning is 38.1%, which suggests Aidan O’Brien has a very good chance of a Doncaster Cup winner this year.
