Punters woke up to the news that Constitution Hill could be a major doubt for the Cheltenham festival this week after trainer Nicky Henderson was left stunned.
The seven-year-old performed poorly on a racecourse at Kempton on Tuesday morning having trailed well behind his two stablemates.
Constitution Hill is unbeaten in eight starts over hurdles and has dominated the opening day of the past two Cheltenham Festivals, winning the Supreme Novices's Hurdle by 22 lengths in 2022 and then the Champions Hurdle last year.
He was immediately scoped after training which revealed a lung infection. This has cast huge doubt over his appearance at Prestbury Park next month.
This has also affected his odds in the Champion Hurdle as his price fell to 4/6.
