Hewick heads the horses scratched for Grand National

Hewick, who had been top weight for the Grand National 2024 off a handicap mark of 169 (11st 12lb), is among 17 scratched from this year’s race.

Hewick was also pulled out of this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup by trainer Shark Hanlon, who felt conditions were too soft for the King George VI Chase winner.

14-time champion trainer Paul Nicholls will have no runners in this year’s Grand National after withdrawing Threeunderthrufive, who will instead run in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown on 27th April. Gordon Elliott is down to 19 entries after scratching Diol Ker, Dunboyne and Gevrey.

Here is the list of horses scratched from the Grand National today:

Who is the favourite to win the Grand National 2024?

Last year’s winner Corach Rambler is the big favourite to win the Grand National at a best price of 5/1 on William Hill (16.7% implied chance).

The bets keep coming in for the 10-year-old, who has now taken more than 15% of all bets on the Grand National through oddschecker since the start of the year.

Having previous won two Ultima handicaps at Cheltenham, he stayed on admirably in this year's Cheltenham Gold Cup to place in a strong field.

You could still back at him at 12/1 before his eye-catching performance in the Festival's blue riband event but is now as short as 9/2 with some bookmakers.

Who is top weight for the Grand National 2024?

Conflated (11st 9lb rated 166) assumes top weight for the 2024 Grand National, ahead of the 2022 winner Noble Yeats (11st 8lb 165) and Welsh Grand National winner Nassalam (11st 4lb 161). Last year’s winner Corach Rambler will run off a revised mark of 159 (146 last year).
