The second favourite for the Epsom Oaks goes in Saturday’s trial at Lingfield.
Further clues for the Epsom Oaks and Derby will be revealed on Saturday at Lingfield, with runners set to put their Epsom aspirations to the test in the trial races.
The first key trial is the William Hill Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes (14.25), where John and Thady Gosden’s Danielle is the 5/4 favourite.
This daughter of Cracksman has displayed race-by-race progress and opened her account at the third time of asking with a wide-margin 12-length success at Wetherby on her turf debut.
She is currently 10/1 second favourite (bet365) behind Ylang Ylang for the Epsom Oaks. Should she pass this test with flying colours, she is sure to drop in price.
Epsom Oaks Odds
| Epsom Oaks Runners | Best Odds | Bookmaker |
|---|---|---|
| Ylang Ylang | 11/4 | William Hill |
| Danielle | 10/1 | bet365 |
| Friendly Soul | 14/1 | Unibet |
| Forest Fairy | 14/1 | bet365 |
| Ezeliya | 14/1 | BetMGM |
| Tamfana | 14/1 | Sky Bet |
Danielle’s biggest rival this weekend might come in the form of Ralph Beckett’s Treasure.
She looked like a filly that could make her mark at a high level, judging by her impressive debut success at Nottingham when she travelled well and quickened clear to score by more than two lengths.
She is 50/1 for the Epsom Oaks. If she takes another step forward and can beat the favourite this weekend, those odds will tumble.
She is a highly promising filly and it will be interesting to see how she fares this weekend. If those big ambitions are to materialise, she will need to run a big race, and I think she will.
Epsom Oaks Tips
My recommendation at this stage would be to back TREASURE this weekend at 6/1 on Ladbrokes and for the Epsom Oaks at 50/1 with BetMGM. If she wins this weekend, her odds will dramatically shorten, so her odds seem value in comparison to Danielle.
