Grand Sefton Tips

It's now almost two weeks since Steve Ryder pressed the claims of RICHMOND LAKE as part of his weekly ante-post column for Oddschecker Unlimited.

He believes Donald McCain could secure his first win in the race with Richmond Lake, who won on his reappearance last season at Wetherby before following up at this course over the regulation fences by 14 lengths off a mark of 142 on heavy ground.

He was then highly tried in better races at Cheltenham and Doncaster before taking an uncharacteristic fall at Kelso in February.

He jumped well over these fences when finishing 10th in the Topham Chase at the Grand National meeting in April off a mark of 143 and he has been dropped 1lb for that run.

With victories after a 185-day break and a 211-day break previously, the fact they are choosing to come straight to this race is no concern and he could be another winner of this race in the Trevor Hemmings colours who won it with Warriors Tale in 2018.
