Jonbon enters Saturday’s Clarence House Chase at Ascot as the 8/11 favourite, with a 57.9% implied probability to win.
With an unbeaten season that includes dominant victories in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham and the Tingle Creek at Sandown, Jonbon has solidified his status among Britain’s top-rated chasers.
This race last year, which was moved to Cheltenham, saw Jonbon finish a close second behind Elixir De Nutz. He endured a challenging run when outpaced at key moments and almost falling on multiple occasions, which affected his rhythm, however, he rallied to only lose by a neck.
This defeat marked one of Jonbon’s rare missteps in his career, with his only other losses coming against top-tier horses like Constitution Hill and El Fabiolo.

Priced at 5/2 (28.6%), Energumene is the closest rival to Jonbon, with Edwardstone and Boothill the outsiders in a small field of four.
The two-time Champion Chase winner, Energumene returned to action after a lengthy 593-day layoff with an impressive win in the Hilly Way Chase.
His previous attempts in the Clarence House Chase have seen two near misses - he finished a close second to Shishkin in the 2022 edition and was third in 2023 when the race was moved to Cheltenham.
