Smokeringinthedark – The Most-Backed Bet Today
Smokeringinthedark is the most-backed bet today, having taken 74% of bets in the 13:50 at Newcastle.
You can back this bet at a best price of 1/2 with Unibet here.
He has seen significant betting support after showing glimpses of promise in his three starts. A winner over 2m4f at Musselburgh on his penultimate run, he didn’t quite see out the 3m trip last time in a novice hurdle.
The drop back to an intermediate distance today, coupled with a stronger pace, could play to his strengths. He has been well-supported overnight, with punters seemingly confident that he can bounce back to winning ways.
Jack Hyde – The Second Most-Backed Bet Today
Jack Hyde has taken 75% of bets in the 15:42 at Southwell, making him the second most-backed horse overall today.
You can back Jack Hyde at a best price of 4/9 at Southwell here.
He has shown plenty of promise over hurdles this season and has shaped well in both outings so far. He first finished fourth in a competitive Class 2 maiden before placing third in a Class 4 event, where he split two subsequent winners and finished behind a Cheltenham entry.
That form has since been franked, with Wolf Moon going on to win next time out. The better ground today should be in his favour, and given his consistency, he looks well-placed to break his maiden at the third attempt.

Qualimita – The Third Most-Backed Bet Today
Qualimita has taken 93% of bets in the 13:35 at Leopardstown, making her the third most-backed horse today.
You can back Qualimita at a best price of 10/11 with William Hill here.
She has been knocking on the door for some time, finishing second twice, third once, and fourth in four hurdle starts.
A high-profile purchase after a point-to-point victory, she has been highly tried against useful mares like Cast A Spell and Baby Kate. Her most impressive performance came last time out when finishing third in a hotly contested Listed handicap, doing her best work late over 2m4f.
The step up in trip to 2m6f today should suit, and this mares’ maiden hurdle represents a much easier test.
With Jack Kennedy booked for Gordon Elliott’s yard, which boasts a 15% strike rate, Qualimita is being backed as the standout runner in this race.
