Breeders’ Cup Turf 2025 Runners Guide
MINNIE HAUK- AIDAN O’BRIEN/ CHRISTOPHE SOUMILLON
Aidan O’Brien trained star filly who lose her unbeaten record this season with a runner-up effort in the Arc de Triomphe. She had previously won her four starts this season including the Cheshire Oaks, the Oaks at Epsom, the Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks all over this distance of 1m4f. She is drawn slightly wider than ideal in Stall 8 but is the one to beat on weight adjusted ratings.
REBEL’S ROMANCE- CHARLIE APPLEBY/ WILLIAM BUICK
Globetrotting legend for Godolphin who has won over £11 million in prize money with 20 victories from his 29 career starts. The Charlie Appleby trained gelding won this race in 2022 at Keeneland and regained his crown last year at this track. That was a weaker contest to this race but he has arguably looked better than ever this season with Group 2 wins at York and Royal Ascot as well as two Group 1 victories on his two latest starts.
William Hill
- Solid in-play betting service
- Cash-in option to help increase profitability
- Excellent reputation within the UK betting-industry
GOLIATH- FRANCIS HENRI-GRAFFARD/ MICKAEL BARZALONA
Five-year-old who has been slightly inconsistent this season but comes into this contest following a Group 1 victory in Germany last time. His trainer Francis-Henri Graffard is having a superb season and he shouldn’t be underestimated. Regular rider Christophe Soumillon rides Minnie Hauk for Aidan O’Brien instead so Arc winning jockey Mickael Barzalona takes over on board for the first time.
AMILOC- RALPH BECKETT/ ROSSA RYAN
Progressive three-year-old gelding who won his first five career starts including the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. He finished 2nd behind Al Riffa in the Group 1 Irish St Leger last time over 1m6f shaping like this drop back in trip to 1m4f would suit him better. A speed favouring 1m4f may not be an ideal set up for him though.
WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE- JAMES OWEN/ FRANKIE DETTORI
Consistent colt who ran well in the likes of the 2000 Guineas, Dante Stakes and at Royal Ascot earlier this season in defeat. The three-year-old won the Nashville Derby under Frankie Dettori in a first-time visor last time over 1m2½f but still needs to prove his stamina over this 1m4f trip.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Trainers & Jockeys To Watch
Aidan O’Brien has won this race a record seven times in his career with High Chapparal (2002 & 2003), St Nicholas Abbey (2011), Magician (2013), Found (2015), Highland Reel (2016) and Auguste Rodin (2023). Charlie Appleby also has a good record winning this race three of the previous four years with Yibir (2021) and Rebel’s Romance (2022 & 2024).
Both Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori share the record for winning this race five times as a rider. William Buick has ridden the winner twice in the previous five years with Yibir (2021) and Rebel’s Romance (2024).

Betting Insights and Prediction for the Breeders’ Cup Turf 2025
78% of all bets on this race through on oddshecker this week have been on MINNIE HAUK (best priced at 11/10) and despite Rebel’s Romance getting the better of the draw over preference goes to the filly who is unlucky not to be unbeaten so far this season. She was a good winner of four different ‘Oaks’ throughout this season and she should be able to get a prominent position from Stall 8 under Christophe Soumillon.
Aidan O’Brien has won this race a record seven times previously and Minnie Hauk looks the one to beat in receipt of weight from the rest of the field.
Recommended bet: MINNIE HAUK 11/10 (1pt win)
