The Grand National entries are in - who is the early betting favourite.
The 2026 Randox Grand National is shaping up as yet another test of endurance and skill, even as entries are down from last year.
A total of 78 horses have been declared, compared with 90 in 2025, but the Irish challenge remains as strong as ever. Ireland supplies 49 of the 78 entries - an impressive 63% of the field - and trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott are leading the charge.
Mullins has entered 15 horses, including previous year’s winners I Am Maximus and Nick Rockett, while Elliott has 12 runners, both trainers are chasing a fourth Grand National victory to equal the all-time trainer record.
Britain provides the current market favourite in last year’s fourth-placed Iroko, trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, but the spotlight remains on Ireland, which has won six of the last seven Nationals.
Other key names include Haiti Couleurs, third-favourite after a string of top performances and last year’s Irish Grand National winner, and Grey Dawning, representing Dan Skelton’s Gold Cup hopes.

Who is the betting favourite in the Grand National 2026?
Iroko has emerged as the early favourite for the 2026 Grand National, priced at 8/1 with bet365, after a professional display in a recent 2m5f graduation chase at Ascot. Having finished fourth in last year’s National, the seven-year-old impressed under Jonjo O’Neill Jr., storming clear at the final fence to win by almost five lengths. Joint-trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero are now plotting a route back to Aintree, with Iroko’s combination of experience and improved form making him a clear contender for April 11.
I Am Maximus is second favourite for the 2026 Grand National at 12/1 with Betfred after a dominant performance in the 2024 race. Sprinting clear on the run-in, he secured a comfortable seven-and-a-half-length victory, giving Willie Mullins his second Aintree Grand National triumph at the time.
