Ascot Chase Runners Guide
JONBON- NICKY HENDERSON/ NICO DE BOINVILLE
Ten-year-old who has won an incredible 20/27 career starts. He is unbeaten over distances further than 2m1f in his career including two Grade 1 victories in the 2024 & 2025 Melling Chase at Aintree over 2m4f. He got back to winning ways in the Clarence House Chase here last time and looks the one to beat back up in trip.
PIC D’ORHY- PAUL NICHOLLS/ HARRY COBDEN
Finished runner-up to Shishkin in the 2023 renewal before winning comfortably in 2024 and 2025 by 5 ½ lengths and 10 lengths respectively. The eleven-year-old pulled up at Sandown on his final start last season before finishing 2nd beaten a length in the Charlie Hall Chase on his reappearance. He was disappointing in the Grade 2 1965 Chase here last time when beaten 36 lengths by Jango Baie and needs to bounce back in this contest.
EDWARDSTONE – ALAN KING/ TOM CANNON
Twelve-year-old who recorded his first victory since February 2024 when victorious in the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase last time at Kempton over this intermediate trip. He finished 3rd beaten 10 ½ lengths by Jonbon in the 2025 Clarence House Chase and was also 11 ¼ lengths behind that rival when 4th in the Celebration Chase last season. He remains unexposed at this trip and has less question marks to answer than most.
ETALON- DAN SKELTON/ TBC
Defied odds of 18/1 to win a handicap chase over 2m3f in December off a mark of 140 in first-time cheekpeices before finishing 3rd over this course and distance a month ago off his revised mark of 145.
BLOW YOUR WAD- GARY & JOSH MOORE/ CAOILIN QUINN
Eight-year-old who had previously shown his best form at Kempton where he had won three times. Following a seventh place finish at Ascot in the Silver Cup over 3 miles last time he has been transferred from Tom Lacey to the Gary & Josh Moore stable who pitch him straight into Grade 1 company for the first time.
RISKINTHEGROUND- DAN SKELTON/ TBC
Has been beaten 20, 22, 55 and 52 lengths on his previous four starts and was ridden to pick up prize money last time when last of four in the Grade 2 Denman Chase only a week ago.

Won in first-time cheekpieces a year ago at Leicester in a handicap chase of a mark of 129. He finished 2nd behind Jax Junior in a handicap chase at Sandown a fortnight ago off a mark of 130.

Ascot Chase Trainer & Jockeys To Watch
Paul Nicholls has won this race a record six times with Rockforce (2000), Kauto Star (2008), Silviniaco Conti (2016), Cyrname (2019) and Pic d’Orhy (2024 & 2025). Another trainer who has a good record is Nicky Henderson who won the race with Tiutchev (2003), Riverside Theatre (2011 & 2012) and Shishkin (2023).
Harry Cobden has won this race three times on board Cyrname (2019) and Pic d’Orhy (2024 & 2025).
Ascot Chase Betting Tips
Pic d’Orhy is respected in his hat-trick bid in this race but faces question marks following a below par effort at his beloved track last time.
However, JONBON (best priced at 8/15) put in an impressive performance last time over 2m1f here to beat the in-form Thistle Ask by 3 lengths when retaining his Clarence House Chase crown a month ago. He is unbeaten over distances over further than 2m1f including two Melling Chase victories at Aintree over 2m4f shaping like this step up in trip will bring about improvement.
He should prove hard to beat if running to his rating of 166.
