Saratoga Derby 2026 guide: Get the latest odds, runners, predictions, start time and key trends ahead of Saturday's Grade 1 contest.
The Saratoga Derby takes centre stage at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, August 8, with a competitive field of three-year-olds set to battle over 1 3/16 miles on the turf.
The Grade 1 contest carries a $750,000 purse and has attracted a fascinating mix of American runners and European raiders. The race is also particularly interesting from a betting perspective after last month's Belmont Derby produced an incredibly tight finish between two of Saturday's leading contenders.
Here is everything you need to know about the 2026 Saratoga Derby, including the start time, runners, latest odds and our prediction.
When is the Saratoga Derby?

Who is the Betting Favourite to Win the Saratoga Derby?
According to recent odds at Oddschecker, TITLE ROLE with odds of 3/1 is the betting favourite to win the Saratoga Derby, with an implied win probability of around 25%, while REMEMBER MAMA with 4/1 sits at roughly 20% behind the favourite.
WEST END KID and PACIFIC AVENUE with odds of 5/1 have a 17% chance of winning each. GLAVINE with 11% chance completes the top 5 favourites to win the Saratoga Derby.
Title Role vs West End Kid
The biggest storyline heading into the Saratoga Derby is the rematch between Title Role and West End Kid.
The pair finished first and second in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby at Saratoga on July 4, with Title Role winning by the narrowest of margins. West End Kid came flying late but was denied by a nose after racing prominently throughout.
Title Role was making his American debut that day and showed plenty of class to hold on. His connections are hoping that an inside draw in post four allows him to settle better this time, after he had to use plenty of energy early when breaking from an outside position in the Belmont Derby.
West End Kid has also been given the chance to improve. Trainer Will Walden has removed his blinkers in an attempt to help the colt relax, while Flavien Prat takes over in the saddle. The trainer believes the outside draw could actually help him find space and settle into a better rhythm.
That makes the rematch particularly intriguing. West End Kid was beaten by almost nothing last time, while Title Role could potentially have more to offer with a cleaner trip.
Can Remember Mamba bounce back?
Remember Mamba was the favourite for the Belmont Derby but finished third, just a neck behind Title Role.
The colt was attempting to close from the outside that day and was arguably compromised by the relatively slow pace. Trainer Cherie DeVaux believes the additional distance can work in his favour, with the 1 3/16-mile Saratoga Derby providing more time for him to build momentum.
Jose Ortiz retains the ride, and that continuity could be important.
Remember Mamba is expected to attract plenty of betting support, but his lack of tactical versatility means the pace could again determine whether he gets the right setup.
Saratoga Derby Betting Trends
According to Oddschecker data from the last 24 hours, Glacius has received 31% of all bets, making him the clear market leader in terms of betting support. Title Role has attracted 19%, followed by Remember Mamba at 16%, while Bottas and Pacific Avenue have each received 13%.
The longer-term betting picture is even stronger for Glacius. Over the last seven days, the Hugo Palmer-trained runner has accounted for 35% of all bets, comfortably ahead of Title Role with 18% and Remember Mamba with 15% bets. Bottas and Pacific Avenue have each received 12% of bets during the same period.
Saratoga Derby Prediction
Pick: Glacius
This is not an easy race to call. Title Role has already proven himself over American turf, West End Kid was desperately unlucky to lose the Belmont Derby and Remember Mamba has the profile to reverse the form with a stronger pace.
But Glacius at 8/1 is the runner who makes the most appeal from a value perspective.
The European form is difficult to ignore, particularly given the level of opposition he has faced. He has also shown enough pace earlier in his career to suggest that the Saratoga turns should not pose a major problem, while the longer distance should be within his capabilities.
The biggest concern is obvious: trainer Hugo Palmer's record in North America has not been strong, and this is Glacius' first start in the United States. However, the horse looks considerably more interesting than his trainer's overall US record suggests.
If he adapts to the Saratoga turf, Glacius has the class to spring a surprise.
