A similar term to an exacta used in betting for horse racing, but what is a trifecta bet?
Although it has a few similarities to a Forecast, this bet can be quite a bit more challenging for a punter, even for those with experience, as extensive consideration and precision is required to have a chance, so beginners may find this difficult to get to grips with.
However, I’ll explain how it works.
What is a trifecta bet in horse racing?
The Trifecta, which can be found on the Tote, is where you back three horses to finish first, second and third in a race. There are three ways of doing a Trifecta.
The first one is a straight Trifecta, the most simple method of the three, and the one that can generate the biggest return if successful.
For this bet, you have to pick the 1-2-3 in the correct order. The combination Trifecta can include multiple horses and hope that any of those three can finish 1-2-3.
You can select as many horses as you like but remember, the more you pick, the higher the bet will cost. An example of this bet would be if you selected six horses in your combination Trifecta, your bet would include 120 bets.
An example of a huge Trifecta return came in last season’s Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle on Day 4 at the Cheltenham Festival where Stellar Story at 33/1, beat The Jukebox Man at 18/1 with Dancing City third at 8/1 which paid £5107.70 from a £1 stake.
