There's an 80% chance that the UK will not leave on the exit date according to latest odds.
Theresa May is urging MP’s to back her Brexit deal ‘for the country’s sake’, but bookies and punters both believe that the outcome on the 29th March will not see the UK leave the EU.
It’s just 1/4 that there will be no departure on the two-year anniversary of Article 50 being activated, that’s in from 8/15.
And punters have been quick to back this despite it’s short price: Twice as many bets in the last 24 hours have been on this rather than the UK leaving on March 29th.
That can still be backed at a best price of 11/4, drifting from a previous price of 11/8.
It’s now 7/4 that another UK EU referendum will be held before the end of 2019, but this can only happen if it is voted through the commons successfully.
It all spells bad news for the Prime Minister. She is just 4/9 to leave her position this year (and as short as 1/3 in places).
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “With members of government continuing to resign and attempts to curry favour appearing futile ahead of Tuesday evening’s vote, it appears that any chance of the UK leaving the EU on March 29th is getting smaller. Punters are taking the 1/4 price and it could yet get shorter.”
