Bookies have been quick to price up when Johnson could be sent packing.
Boris Johnson’s most likely exit date has been revealed as 2019, with bookies pricing up how long the new Prime Minister will last in Number 10.
2019 is the clear favourite for when he’ll be handed his jotters at 9/4, meaning British bookmakers think it’s most likely he leaves in his first year.
The next most likely exit date is both 2020 and 2022, which are 5/2 to be the year that he leaves the position.
Punters are backing the newly-appointed PM to be leave in 2019 too, with 24% of all bets in the market backing an early exit for Johnson.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "The UK has watched Boris' price cascade further and further into the abyss of inevitability and now it's finally been made official.
"Based on the early reaction to his appointment, it's unlikely to be an easy ride for the former Foreign Secretary. Bookmakers give it a 30.8% chance he's out of No.10 before 2020."
