Incredible Sulk: Boris Johnson cut into odds-on to be the shortest serving Prime Minister EVER

The PM would have to last until 20th November to avoid setting the unfortunate record.

Paddy Power have slashed odds into 5/6 on Boris Johnson becoming the shortest serving Prime Minister ever.

Mr Johnson has managed 55 days in office so far, but is facing significant pressure following a series of aggressive moves and mishaps.

Should he serve under 119 days, he’d set the record for the shortest time in office ever.

The Prime Minister shocked MPs by stripping 21 colleagues of their party membership for voting against a no-deal Brexit. This prompted over 100 Tory MPs to write to Mr Johnson expressing their outrage.

He has lost his parliamentary majority and seen opposition parties rally against the no-deal option. As his armoury continues to weaken, Mr Johnson’s chances of negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU by the end of October look increasingly slim.

There is a strong possibility a general election will be called before the end of the year. Should that result in a Tory defeat, he could feasibly be gone before 20th November. This would make him the shortest serving PM in history.

A November election is priced at 7/4 in places, while October is a long shot at 33/1.

George Canning currently holds the record for the shortest serving Prime Minister, having held office for 118 days before his death cut his tenure short in 1827.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “It hasn’t come as a surprise that Boris Johnson has caused such a stir in his short time in No. 10 Downing Street.

“His ‘bull in a china shop’ approach has riled hordes of MPs from his own party and throughout the opposition already. If Brexit continues on this disastrous path we could well see him leave before November.”
