Bookmakers are still confident the UK will not leave in time, despite this morning's developments.
There is still an 80% implied chance that the UK does not leave the EU by October 31st 2019, despite Boris Johnson's claims that a deal has been struck.
Odds have been slashed from 1/2 into 1/4 on the UK not leaving before Halloween this year.
That’s due to a flurry of bets in the last 4 hours, with 81% of punters remaining coy over the date of Brexit.
On the flip side, it's 11/4 that the UK is out of the EU before the allotted time period.
In other related markets, it's 11/10 that the leaving date of the UK is before December 2019, with the next most likely scenario being between January 2020 and June 2020. That is priced at 7/4.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Boris Johnson’s announcement that the UK has ‘taken back control’ this morning has had a major knock-on effect at British bookies, prompting firms to slash odds on a Brexit deal being ratified by parliament.
“Whilst on the surface it looks like considerable progress has been made, it’s also still unlikely that the UK leaves the EU before October 31st.
“Firms are still offering 11/4 that the UK does just that, which is an implied probability of 26.3% that the UK leaves before Halloween finishes.”
