Jeremy Corbyn bookies' favourite to win ITV leaders' debate

The leaders of the two main parties will face off in in the first televised debate of the election campaign.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is the favourite to win tonight’s ITV leaders’ debate, according to bookmakers.

He’s priced at 8/11 to be declared the winner, while current Prime Minister Boris Johnson is the underdog at 1/1.

Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn will go head-to-head on ITV at 8pm in the first televised debate of the general election campaign.

Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon missed out on a spot despite a legal challenge.

The official winner of tonight’s debate will be decided with a snap YouGov Poll. However, the reaction in the press and on social media is likely to have the more significant impact.

Both leaders are expected to spend plenty of time discussing Brexit, while public services are also likely to be central to questioning.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Boris Johnson faces the uphill struggle of defending the status quo this evening, while Jeremy Corbyn will look to launch a scathing attack on the Conservative Party’s handling of Brexit and austerity.”

“The debate is likely to be about damage limitation for the Prime Minister, while Mr Corbyn will see this as a chance to go on the offensive.”
