Next US President Odds 2024: Favourite Donald Trump dodges California debate

Donald Trump, the favourite with the bookmakers to become the next US president, stays away from the second Republican Party debate in California.

With Republican nominees gathering in California to battle it out for the public’s attention, former President and bookies' favourite to take the top job, Donald Trump, decided not to attend but to deliver a speech in Michigan instead.

Now building a lead in the polls, Trump’s decision not to attend the debate in California was an undoubted power-move. The debate between the rest of the candidates was centred around his lack of attendance, with Trump accused of question-dodging with his ongoing legal troubles only mounting.

The effect, however, is that people are talking about Trump and he remains the favourite to become the next US President. It looks as though the Republican nomination is his to lose.

Next US President Odds 2024

Trump comes in at 7/4 to return to the White House, but he is followed closely behind by three Democratic heavyweights.

Incumbent President, Joe Biden, isn’t far behind Trump at 9/4 while Gavin Newsom, the current Governor of California and fellow Democratic hopeful, has his chances weighed at 12/1. At 14/1 the controversial Robert F. Kennedy Jr. makes up the top four.

  • Donald Trump - 7/4
  • Joe Biden - 9/4
  • Gavin Newsom - 12/1
  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - 14/1
  • Michelle Obama - 18/1
  • Ron DeSantis - 20/1

Republican Presidential Candidates 2024 Odds

As the top four in the next president odds market suggests, the Democratic party nomination race is expected to be more competitive than the Republican, with the current market placing Trump as the runaway winner already.

With Trump at 4/7 (63.6% chance) to be the Republican candidate, there is little hope for his nearest challenger Ron DeSantis at 8/1. The popular Vivek Ramaswamy - the only Republican not to be heavily critical of Trump -  has been attacked by other Republicans for his use of China-based social media platform TikTok, and presents an outside bet at 14/1.

Donald Trump President Odds

Despite his ongoing legal issues and failure to attend either Republican Party debate, which many have labelled disrespectful, Trump has managed to cultivate a campaign that has people talking about him - again.

His 7/4 odds (36.4% implied chance) to be the next President present, and 4/7 odds to be the Republican candidate make it difficult to bet against him returning to Washington D.C. in 2024. That is if he is legally allowed to be there.

Who is the Favourite to be the Next US President?

Donald Trump is the favourite to become the next US president in 2024 at a best price of 7/4 on Betfred. His nearest challenger is incumbent president Joe Biden, who can be backed at 9/4.

The Democrat nomination race looks to be far closer than their Republican counterparts, but Biden does remain favourite at 9/20 to retain his right to run.

The 2024 election will then be a straight repeat of 2020, where Biden convincingly beat Trump. The bookies have Trump as the favourite in the current climate, just.
