Rishi Sunak has stretched from 3/1 to 5/1 in the next Prime Minister odds betting market since his public backing of Israel last week.
The Conservative leader and current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who arrived for two days in Israel last night, has faced public backlash from some after “pledging to stand with Israel”.
Meanwhile, Labour leader Keir Starmer has also faced backlash from his own party after saying in an interview that Israel has “a right to defend herself”.
Nonetheless, this hasn’t impacted his chances of becoming Prime Minister after the Next General Election, with Starmer’s odds now as short as 1/9 with several bookmakers (best price 1/5). That’s his shortest price since the betting market opened in August 2022.

Prime Minister after Next General Election Betting Odds
Leon Blackman from oddschecker said: “Sunak’s comments around the Israel-Gaza conflict have not gone down well with oddsmakers. His odds have shifted to 5/1 (previously 3/1) to be the Prime Minister after the next General Election.
“Bookmakers believe Keir Starmer now has a 90% implied chance of being in Downing Street after the 2024 Election. In fact, his odds of 1/9 are the most favourable they’ve been towards the Labour leader since the betting market opened in August 2022.”
Labour are 1/6 (85.7%) to win the most seats in the next General Election, with Conservative a 5/1 chance. A Labour majority government is 69.4% likely at a best price of 11/25 on Unibet.
