Latest Presidential Election Odds: How to Bet on the 2024 US Election One Week Out

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris go head-to-head in the US Election next week in a bid to become the next US President and you can find out how to bet on the election with oddschecker.

Donald Trump is bidding to return to the White House after losing to Joe Biden in 2020 with Kamala Harris looking to make history and become the first female US President.

Harris, the current Vice President, became the Democratic candidate after Joe Biden announced he would not be standing for re-election in July.

As we get closer to the US Election, Trump has established a slight lead over Harris but with several key  states still too close to call, the result could still go either way.

With that in mind, oddschecker has compiled all the best offers and sites for you to place a bet on the outcome of the US Election.

When is the US election and When are the Results Announced?

It may take a while to find out whether Trump or Harris is the next US President

As per tradition, the US Election will take place on the first Tuesday in November, which happens to be Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.

Over the years, the winner of the US Presidential Election has been declared on the night of the election itself. However, in 2020, it was a different story as it took four days to finally announce that Joe Biden was the winner of the US Election.

This was down to the high number of postal votes due to the Covid-19 pandemic but authorities say the 2024 US Election should be announced earlier than four years ago.

Projected results for states should start coming through around midnight UK time. Traditionally, the result of the US Election is often known by the time polls close on the West Coast - about 11pm EST and 4am GMT.

But with a number of key battleground states spread across the country, many may have to wait a little longer to find out the next occupier of the White House.

How will Donald Trump or Kamala Harris Become the next US President?

Popular vote doesn't guarantee success

The winner of the US Election will not be the one who gets the most votes across the country. Both candidates will instead be competing for Electoral College Votes.

Each state has a certain number of Electoral College Votes which is partly based on population. There are a total of 538 up for grabs, and the winner is the candidate that wins 270 or more.

The majority of states operate a winner-takes-all rule, so whichever candidate wins the highest number of votes is awarded all of the state's Electoral College Votes.

The majority of states have already been projected to go one way or another, so the focus is usually on key states where either Trump or Harris could win. These are known as the battleground or swing states.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but did not gain enough Electoral College Votes, allowing Donald Trump to clinch a surprise victory. Will he do the same next Tuesday?
