Clean Bandit’s odds have been smashed in since the official chart release on Friday evening.
The smash hit ‘Rockabye’ has now been top of the charts for six consecutive weeks and looks to have shaken off stiff competition from many other popular acts to land this year’s Christmas number one. Last Thursday punters could back Clean Bandit at 14/1, since then the odds have tumbled with the hit now as short as 1/10 with one bookmaker. One lucky Oddschecker user put £100 on ‘Rockabye’ for Christmas number one when they were 10/1, hours before the weekly chart release. Oddschecker have taken bets on over fifty different acts, however Clean Bandit were the most backed artist, with 13% of bets placed.
The odds suggest the British electronic music group have over a 90% chance of securing the top spot. Many other acts have held favouritism this year including Friends of Jo Cox, The London Hospices Choir and Matt Terry but none have been as short as Clean Bandit.
Rag N Bone Man look like the only competition for the top spot, the singer-songwriter from Uckfield came in from 25/1 to as short as 4/1 for Christmas number one overnight. The Brits Critic’s Choice Award winner entered the market at 50/1 at the start of December.
