The Undertaker remains favourite but his odds are drifting for The Royal Rumble.
Amid rumours the Undertaker won’t be fighting for a title come WrestleMania, the wrestling legend’s odds of being victorious in the Royal Rumble have drifted. Just last week the 51 year-old was as short as 5/6 to win the Royal Rumble for a second time, however he has since drifted to 3/1 with three bookmakers. This gives “The Phenom” a 25% chance of winning the battle royal match, which is short given he was 40/1 (2.4%) when the market opened. 26% of the stakes placed through Oddschecker on the event have been on The Undertaker.
Braun Strowman has been named joint favourite alongside Undertaker with the majority of bookmakers, however he’s still 9/2 best odds. The former strongman made his name as part of the Wyatt family. His singles career only started to gather momentum at the back-end of 2016, which is reflected by his odds shortening as he was a 33/1 shot for the rumble in early December.
Randy Orton’s odds have been dramatically cut, in October he was given no chance of winning the Royal Rumble at 100/1. However, with just weeks to go until the main event he’s as short at 11/4 with one bookmaker.
Wrestling fans can also expect Finn Balor to return to the ring at the Royal Rumble, he’s been out of action since August but the battle royal has been a hotbed for returns in the past. Balor’s injury pushed him out from 7/1 to 50/1 with one bookmaker, however in October he was priced amongst the favourites at 3/1. He has since drifted to 8/1 but in the last week his odds have shortened to 4/1.
We’ve seen a lot of money staked on the event, and consequently we’ve highlighted a few bettors chasing a big win. One Oddschecker punter managed to put £15 on The Miz to win Royal Rumble at 100/1, he’s now shortened to 14/1. Another optimistic Oddschecker user placed £10 on CM Punk to win the rumble at 250/1 last week, he’s still at this price but is also 50/1 with one bookie.
19% of bets we’ve seen through Oddschecker have been on The Undertaker, other favourites with our users have been; Finn Balor (12%), Bill Goldberg (9%), Brock Lesnar (6%) and Jericho (6%). However we’ve also seen 51 bets on Donald Trump to win the main event at 2000/1 and even 14 bets on Conor Mcgregor at 750/1.
Last year’s winner Triple H was 2/1 with two weeks to go this time last year, and continued to shorten every day before the 2016 Royal Rumble.
