I'm a Celebrity set to beat Bake Off at the NTA's

Ant and Dec are set for a busy night at the National Television Awards.

The Great British Bake Off heads to the 2017 National TV Awards looking to complete a hat-trick of awards for the Best Challenge Show. However, the bookmakers are predicting Mel and Sue will be walking away empty handed, as their odds of 5/2 give them 28.6% chance of winning the award. They’re second favourites behind the popular I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, which is 2/5 (71.4%) to take home the award. This year’s I’m a Celeb line-up captivated the public and included the co-presenter of this year’s National Television Awards, Scarlett Moffatt, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle. As well as appealing to the viewing public the show was also a massive hit for UK bettors, with over 26,500 bets (placed via Oddschecker) on the show. Other shows up for the award include The Apprentice (16/1), Masterchef (33/1) and finally Love Island (40/1).

Ant and Dec are set for a stellar night. The famous duo are 1/5 to win the award for Best Entertainment Programme with their smash hit Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. The prime-time ITV show comfortably leads the market which includes The Last Leg (7/1), Celebrity Juice (8/1) and finally The Graham Norton Show (12/1). It will come as no surprise that Ant and Dec are also very short-priced favourite for the award for Best TV Presenter at 1/10, which gives them a 90.9% chance of winning the award. This will be their 16th Best Presenter award in a row at the NTA’s, the last time somebody else won the award was Michael Barrymore back in 2000. Even presenting Match of Day in his pants hasn’t propelled Gary Lineker into contention, he remains an outsider at 25/1.

David Walliams and Len Goodman will fight it out for the Best TV Judge, they’re both 6/4 to win the award. Walliams has already won the prize for his role on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015. Goodman, now 72 years-old, would be a fitting winner having left Strictly Come Dancing this year after 12 years as head judge. Mary Berry will be looking to spring a surprise at 11/4 having done just that in 2015 when she finished 74th in FHM Top 100 Sexiest Women.

Eastenders are set to win the bragging rights in the world of soaps, they’re 1/2 to land their third Award for Best Serial Drama. The bookmakers have priced Coronation Street as second favourite (10/3), Emmerdale 4/1 and Hollyoaks the outside bet at 50/1. The award for Best Drama looks to be a two-way tussle between Game Of Thrones and, perhaps surprisingly, Casualty. Game of Thrones has never won the award and are 5/4 to do so this year but they face stiff competition as Casualty is gathering momentum having been cut from 9/2 to 2/1 in the last few days.
