New England Patriots to face Atlanta Falcons at Superbowl LI

The New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons have reached the Super Bowl after defeating the Steelers and the Packers respectively.

The New England Patriots reached a record ninth Super Bowl after an impressive 36-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was their ninth consecutive victory and star quarterback was imperious form, throwing a franchise play-off best of 384 yards.

That win has taken them to Houston on 5th February, where they will take on the Atlanta Falcons, who themselves will be making their second Superbowl appearance after being beaten by the Denver Broncos in 1998.

The Falcons thrashed the Packers 44-21 at the Georgia Dome and condemned Green Bay to their second NFC Championship game defeat in three seasons. Matt Ryan threw an impressive four touchdown passes and ran for another, throwing 392 of their 493 offensive yards.

The Patriots have been the favourites to pick up the Superbowl throughout the season, even without Tom Brady for the first four games and started the season at 8/1. So it is no surprise to see them make the final showpiece game.

The Falcons, on the other hand, had a mixed season in 2015, finishing with an 8-8 record and did not make the playoffs. As such, they were not considered as one of the favourites for the Superbowl, even with star quarterback, Matt Ryan at 66/1.

The Patriots will go into game in Houston as favourites but the Falcons are on a six-game winning run themselves and with both teams looking in imperious form last night Superbowl LI could be one to savour.
