Warren Gatland's men succumbed to a late try to lose their first game of the tour in only their second match.
The British and Irish Lions continued their lacklustre start to their tour of New Zealand with a shock 22-16 loss at the hands of Super Rugby team Blues in Auckland on Wednesday morning. Despite starting the game as 4/9 favourites, the Lions struggled throughout, trailing at the break 12-10 thanks to a Sonny Bill Williams try.
Warren Gatland’s men were eventually outscored by three tries to one and looked one dimensional throughout in another dire performance, following a dismal 13-7 win over a Provincial Barbarians side four days earlier.
Things don’t get any easier for the Lions as they face Super Rugby table toppers the Crusaders on Saturday, a side expected to feature numerous All Blacks expected to line-up for the first test on June 24th.
Even before Wednesday’s result, Oddschecker punters were piling in on an All Black whitewash with 83% of all bets for New Zealand to win the series 3-0, accounting for almost 99% of all stakes (best price 4/5).
New Zealand are now as short as 1/7 to win the three-match series with the Lions available at 11/2 following their two performances on tour to date, whilst you can get 6/5 on them to win one of the three test matches.
