Tom Hardy is currently the bookies favourite but ‘Any Female’ is available at 10/1
The Time Lord eventually arrived in the 21st century last week with show producers deciding to cast Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Dr Who. Ridiculously there was uproar from a section of Who fans as Whittaker is a woman and not a man, with some calling the decision ‘unrealistic’ as the time travelling, alien-fighting, regenerating doctor should be a man.
With that in mind, the reality of the next actor to be cast as the new James Bond also being female could potentially break the internet. However, with yesterday’s confirmation that the 25th James Bond film will be released in 2019, the odds suggest the chances the next bond could be female aren’t entirely implausible.
Although Hollywood superstar Tom Hardy remains the favourite to take on the role if current Bond Daniel Craig (or producers) decides to bring to an end his stint as 007, the option for ‘Any Female’ to be cast is available at 10/1. Those odds suggest a 9.1% probability, not miles behind the 23.1% chance it will be Hardy.
Since the announcement of Whittaker as the new Dr, Oddshecker has seen a steady flow of bets for the next Bond to be a female with just under 5% of all bets placed on that outcome.
Also popular in the market is Dunkirk star Jack Lowden who has seen his odds shorten from 500/1 at the start of the month into as short as 25/1 after earning rave reviews for his performance in the epic war film.
