Philadelphia have had more bets to win the Super Bowl than their divisional rivals combined
The Philadelphia Eagles’ odds to win this season’s Super Bowl have been drastically cut after Sunday’s convincing 34-7 win against the Cardinals, and punters have been taking note.
The now seventh-favourite Eagles were cut from 25/1 to 14/1 with several bookmakers. Other bookmakers have them as low as 12/1.
This hasn’t discouraged punters though, as the Eagles have been the most backed franchise, as per Oddschecker, to win the Super Bowl since Sunday’s games.
17.5% of the market bets have gone on the Eagles in this period, more bets than divisional rivals the Redskins, Cowboys and Giants have accumulated combined.
The Eagles go to Carolina to take on a resurgent Panthers team on Thursday Night Football this week, with second-year quarterback Carson Wentz looking for a repeat of what many have said was his best game as a pro against the Cardinals. The Eagles are +3 on the spread.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: "The 'Ginger Prince' Carson Wentz is coming off an incredible performance where he tossed three touchdowns in the first quarter, and with the NFC East wide open, punters have been keen to pick the Eagles not only for the playoffs but this year's Super Bowl."
