Meghan's pregnancy odds crash after Royal Wedding announcement

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to be wed in Spring 2018 and bookies have cut the odds on a subsequent pregnancy announcement.

Clarence House have, this morning, announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged to be married.

That news has caused bookmakers to slash the odds of Meghan falling pregnant in 2018 to EVENS from 9/1 before this morning’s announcement.

Clarence House have confirmed the wedding will take place in spring 2018, with May the favourite at 2/5. That would be after his brother William was married to Kate in April, back in 2011. The venue is sure to, once again, be Westminster Abbey at odds of 2/9, while Windsor Castle comes next in the betting at evens.

St James’s Palace announced that Kate was pregnant with first child, Prince George in December 2012, 20 months after the wedding which could mean bookmakers are jumping the gun slightly in expecting a similar announcement for Harry and Meghan by 2019.

Bookmakers have been sure that Prince Harry would pop the question at some point since February of this year, when they cut their odds to evens, 10/1 that they get married and the same price for Meghan to be expecting a baby by the end of this year.

Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: “They've only been engaged for five minutes but punters are already hoping for the pitter-patter of tiny royal feet on the corridors of Buckingham Palace. The markets told us to expect news of an engagement soon, although just 14 bets were placed on the Oddschecker site for a 2017 proposal.”
