The 'Rocket' whitewashed Marco Fu 6-0 in the first round on Tuesday
Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan made an imperious start to the defence of his Masters Title by beating Marcu Fu 6-0 at Alexandra Palace. Over the course of the six frames he outscored his opponent by 649 points to 35.
Since the first round match started 1pm on Tuesday, 73% of bets have been placed on the Englishman to win and defend his title, with bookies cutting his tournament odds in from 15/8 to 5/4.
It’s not hard to see as to why as he eased to a 3-0 lead against Fu, including two century breaks, which even saw Fu fail to pot a single ball. O’Sullivan went on to win 6-0 in a match which lasted less than two hours.
His closest competitor in the betting market, Judd Trump best priced at 4/1, has been overlooked by Oddschecker punters as they look for more value, firmly believing Ronnie O’Sullivan will at least make the final.
There has been just shy of 10% of bets placed on Shaun Murphy to prevail in the last hour, best priced at 11/1 with Ladbrokes and Bet Victor.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Although O’Sullivan is the clear favourite, his performance clearly hasn’t convinced everyone he will make it three Masters titles in a row, with some punters shopping around for some value.”
