Bookies predict Prince Harry's wedding will attract less viewers than his brother's.
Bookmakers have predicted that over 23 million people in the UK will watch the royal wedding this weekend as an odds-on shot, ahead of the big event.
If correct, that’ll fall short of the 26.3m who viewed Will and Kate’s back in 2011.
With wedding fever sweeping across the United Kingdom, bookies have priced up how many people will watch the showcase spectacular across the BBC, ITV and Sky.
They’ve set their odds-on line at over 23 million viewers, but for the soon-to-be newlyweds, its 3/1 that they reach the type of figures commanded by Will and Kate.
Prince Charles and Lady Diana hold the record which was set in 1981 at 28.4m viewers, followed by Princess Anne and Mark Phillips in 1973 with 27.6m.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “With excitement for the wedding at fever pitch, bookies have tried their hand at working out how many people will watch the event – settled by BARB live UK viewing figures.
“Although they’re expecting a mammoth audience, they’re claiming there’s only a 25% implied chance that Harry and Meghan attract more people watching their big day, than that of Harry’s big brother.”
