Golden State Warriors back to odds-on for the NBA Championship as DeMarcus Cousins signs

Cousins signs a one-year, $5.3M deal as the Dub Nation’s roster gets even more stacked.

If it was possible for Golden State to get even better, then they’ve just done so. DeMarcus Cousins was a free agent who ‘had no offers’ according to the man himself.

However, he has now joined the biggest dynasty in the NBA and has likely secured another Finals berth at least for the team that has won three of the last four Championships.

All the news previously was about LeBron James joining the Lakers and almost single-handedly moving them into betting contention. But after today’s news, Golden State have moved from a 6/5 best price for another ring to just 4/6.

Some bookies have the Warriors at 8/15, implying a 65% chance of capturing the 2018-19 Championship. The Lakers meanwhile have gone from 9/2 best price to 9/1

The reaction on Twitter has been one of incredulousness, with Golden State’s potential starting line-up arguably now being one of the strongest of all time. It would take a brave punter to bet against this franchise doing what they’ve been doing for most of the last four years.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “The man they call ‘Boogie’ might have just scared off any competition for the Golden State Warriors, who are now odds-on across the board to notch up another NBA Championship. DeMarcus Cousins will join Curry, Durant and co. on the West Coast in what looks like an unbreakable all-star line up.”
