White Christmas in Glasgow? Here's what the bookies have to say

Bookies have had their say on the city’s chances of snow on December 25th.

There are few better sights than Sauchiehall Street bedecked in a blanket of white snow, and if punters in Scotland are correct, then it could well happen on Christmas day.

Bookmakers have predicted that there’s a 2/1 chance that it will snow on the 25th December, making it the most likely (alongside Aberdeen) in the entire UK.

In layman’s terms, that’s a 33.3% chance that the major city will be all white on the night of Christmas day.

It’s been the most popular bet out of all the UK cities as well, attracting 38% of all bets on which major UK cities will receive snowfall.

Elsewhere across the country, Aberdeen is also 2/1 to receive snow, with Edinburgh being touted as a 3/1 shot.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said: “There’s a magical buzz around the city of Glasgow around Christmas time. The pubs are packed out and the cosy winter clothes are on.

“A white Christmas in Glasgow would be the cherry on top of the cake, and it appears bookies think there’s a very distinct possibility of snow on the big day.

“With a cold snap expected to kick in this weekend, we fully expect those odds not to freeze, but to plummet as we edge closer to December 25th.”
