Bookies have cut odds from 8/1 into 2/1 in the last 24 hours.
Ava Max is receiving a whirlwind of bets to have the number one single on Christmas Day, as her song ‘Sweet but Psycho’ continues to be streamed by the million.
She remains behind Ariana Grande in the race for the prestigious position but has seen her odds go from 8/1 into 2/1 best price today (Monday December 17).
What’s more, 58% of bets are on the 25-year-old to score her first number one in this country, way ahead of the next most backed selection, LadBaby with 17%.
His novelty hit is a 10/1 third-favourite, but it looks to be a two-horse race according to the bookies, with Grande still the hot favourite at 4/7 best price with her tune ‘Thank U, Next’.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “It’s the prize every artist has marked in their (advent) calendar, and it appears that little-known Ava Max is circling in on Christmas number one.
“We’ve seen a multitude of bets on the 25-year-old scooping the festive prize, with 6/10 of all bets placed backing her to take over from last year’s winner Ed Sheeran.”
